The simulator has been in use since August 2009 and has slowly been added to over the years. With now over nearly 200 training hours with over 30 cadets trained, it have been an invaluable piece of equipment in our training syllabus.
Starting off as a 1 desk and 3 computers it has now grown into a monster, with now 9 computers 15 monitors, 1 projector, running the simulator, an instructor station and the Air Traffic Control suite.
The layout of the cockpit is to resemble the Boeing 737 - 800. With our simulator we can pretty much put whatever aircraft we want on. We mainly train the cadets using the 737 as belive it or not its a fairly easy aircraft to teach them on, it also have the most training materials and support with other flight simmers around the word.
Our newest project for Operation Stateside is to build an Air Traffic Control Suite. This has enabled us to add a new element to all the training, Air Traffic procedures. Not only have cadets got to learn to fly but talk to ATC and follow instructions and procedures. This has greatly increased the learning and workload for cadets in the simulator, but they all love it!
